I finally felt comfortable enough with drawing One Piece to put these two series together! I always felt like it would be unbalanced since I'm still quite a bit better at drawing Dragonball, but here it looks alright. I didn't want to anything too fancy with coloring since the linework itself is pretty decent. It's kind of like my 100K piece, flat warm coloring and shading only used to indicate different planes or overlap of some kind. I'm not sure how much I like that text there but I didn't want to have to crop Roushi and Sanji too much to eliminate that empty space ( I know, I suck at composition....)
Haha, Gokuh and Luffy look a little uncharacteristically adorable here, maybe because I made their heads a little too large. Wow, I don't think I've ever drawn Piccolo this well before! In case you haven't come across it before, Cross Epoch is the collaborative 20 page comic that Toriyama and Oda drew together for Jump about a year ago. As to be expected from these two, it was pretty wacky but I definitely recommend it if you are a fan of either. Special thanks to Lauraneato for getting me a firsthand reference for this  |
