Same deal. Otakon art. This piece went for about $61 if I remember correctly (???)

I had recently reread the Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind manga and decided to make an epic tribute. That was the plan, but this wasn't as well executed as I would've liked. Way to much white space and the composition is a little same-y in some places. Still, my second favorite of the bunch. I'm particularly proud of how I drew and rendered the horseclaw :)

Also, if you haven't read the manga yet, do it. So freaking good.

medium is watercolor with colored pencil. Ohh... the wrinkles in the paper really show huh? Those darned watercolors...

I have never seen the movie but I have heard of the story (my bff told me the story). I like Nausicaa. Which one of the other characters is Asbel?

As I said in your "Let's Go Exploring" piece, you have a great style, and now I see you've taken on Mr. Miyazaki's style and done it just as well. Color me intrigued by you and your work.

This is beautiful composition of some of the manga's main characters. The watercolour painting is a good match for Miyazaki's own illustrations. I agree, your drawing of Kai is superb, but I think the Dorok emperor and that hearty laugh of his is my favourite. My only nitpicks are the Yupa's hat is too narrow and Kushana is not feminine enough. Still, it sold for a good price and was worth every penny.

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind is the best manga ever! It was a big influence when I was working on my own comic. No one can pull off better shading and texturing in black and white than Miyazaki.

I love it! I had read Nausicaa`s manga not long ago... and there are not too much fan arts...
